Overview
Nungwi village, located on the northern tip of the island, is the liveliest beach spot in Zanzibar. Thanks to its idyllic location, it offers great diving, a perfect sand beach, and the ability to swim even during low tide.
As the biggest village in Zanzibar, Nungwi boasts many restaurants and shops. There are also plenty of special things to see and do, such as the natural aquarium, where turtles that have been caught in fishing nets are brought to heal.
On this tour, we’ll visit Mnarani Aquarium, a small tidal lake surrounded by porous coral ragstone that is home to dozens of endangered hawksbill and green turtles.
We’ll also visit with local dhow boat-makers on the beach and see the boats being built from scratch.
